Slighlty different from our stars this snowflake using the same basic technique.

3 x yellow straw
1 x blue/navy straw
Scissors
Small placement ring
Straw splitter
Yellow thread/floss
Instructions
Step one - Split the straw and cut in half.
Step two - Place the yellow straws in the ring leaving
step three - Work all the way around the ring so there are two straws in each space.
Step four - Now make a second layer but this time leave 3 spaces.
Step five - When all sections have four straws in take the blue/navy straws and place across so all spaces now have five straws in them.
Step six - Push the inner section into place to hold the straws in position.
Step seven - Securely tie off each group of five straws using the thread/floss.
step eight - Trim the blue/navy straws to a long point, you may have to adjust to ensure they are all the same lenght.
Step nine - Finally trim the outside yellow straws at an angle ensuring the outer ones a slightly shorter than the ones nearest to the blue/mauve straw. Carefully remove from ring.
Tricks of the Trade
Straw craft - interupted If you get interupted whilst working place the inner section into the ring to hold the straws so you can return later to finish your project.
Strawcarft - thread/floss IF using a multi-strand thread/floss then draw out one or two threads to work with so the thread is less obvious.
