3 x natural straw
Small placement ring
Scissors
Embroidery thread/floss
Straw splitter
Instructions
Step one - Split the straws into four then cut in half.
Step two - Begin to place on the placement ring missing 3 spaces.
Step three - Work around the placement ring until all spaces have two straws in.
Step four - Now place straws across the placement ring so each space now has three straws.
Step five - Place the centre section into the placement ring to hold all the straws in place.
Step six - Sedcure the straws by wrapping each set of three securely with the embriodery thread/floss.
Step seven - Pull two of the straws so they form a long point (take care not to pull out to far and dislodge from other side). Then cut to form a point and trim the side straws in line with tip of point.
Step eight - Work the opposite side in the same way, then turn 90 degrees and repeat process to create four long points.
Step nine - You will then have four sets of three straws that will need to be trimmed with the middle straw on each being trimmed to a neat point and the two sides trimmed at an angle in line with point. Remove centre then ease star off of placement ring.
Tricks of the Trade
Straw craft - laying down sections When placing straw into the placement ring ensure the slightly curved side (which was the outside of the straw) is uppermost. This gives the finished star a better finish.
