step one - Thread one large or two small beads onto each of the headpins. Using the bull nose pliers create a loop near the beads and cut off excess.
step two - Cut a lenght of beading thread around 25cm (10") long and thread through the needle. Then thread a single small bead onto the thread. Now thread the other end of the thread through the needle, ensuring the bead sits halfway along the thread.
step three - Thread on a few beads then thread on six seed beads. Now thread on one of the headpins. Now take the needle back through three of the seedbeads.
step four - Continue to thread beads on to the thread until you have created a lenght of beads around 7.5cm (3") long.
step five - Place the thread through the first loop on the kilt pin. Tie off tightly, pulling tight so the beads sit up close against the kilt pin.
step six - Thread the thread back down a few of the beads and cut close to the beads. Repeat this for as many loops as you have on the kilt pin. Making each strand slightly different in lenght and attaching one or two of the larger beads on headpins at differing levels.
